The purpose of this prospective, population-based observational study is to quantify and understand the trends in pregnancy outcomes in defined low-resource geographic areas over time, in order to provide population-based statistics on stillbirths, and neonatal and maternal mortality. Hence the registry is intended to describe Global Network (GN) populations using a finite set of demographic and other characteristics and major outcomes of pregnancy. In addition, the data from the registry to provide data for planning future studies in the GN. The population includes women who reside within study communities, for whom exposures in the community or available health care may influence pregnancy outcomes. Also included women who deliver in the community, regardless of their location of residence, for whom the delivery environment may influence outcome.
