World Breastfeeding Week 2021
World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world. Lata Medical Research Foundation is working in the field of Medical and community research through various studies with the main objective to improve maternal and Neonatal health. On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week, Lata Medical Research Foundation, Nagpur organized a talk on ‘Importance of breastfeeding and nutrition during lactation’ on 5th August 2021 at Data Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Sawangi, Wardha district, Maharashtra, India. Talk was delivered by Dr. Shilpa Bhaise, Nutritionist from Lata Medical Research Foundation Nagpur and overwhelming response from beneficiaries, who were lactating mothers, pregnant women, nursing staff and medical students.
Another awareness programme was organized by Dr. Varsha Dhurde (Nutritionist) who delivered lecture at Datta Meghe College of Nursing, Wanadongri, Nagpur on 6th August 2021 for nursing students. She has brainstormed nursing students on ‘Importance of exclusive breastfeeding’.
The 2021 World Breastfeeding Week’s theme is ‘Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility. The theme is to create awareness among people about the benefits of breastfeeding and its importance. The motive of these activities is to create awareness among new parents, relatives, and medical staff to take shared efforts for improving infant health.
